Fitness Classes
Cheltenham YMCA offers a wide variety of fitness classes in our the town centre location. Throughout the week at a variety of times we offer a great range of fitness classes for all fitness levels.
Legs Bums and Tums
A popular lunchtime class designed to isolate the thighs, buttocks, and abdominals. Suitable for all levels male and female.
Boxercise
A cardio workout taking you through a range of boxing techniques mixed with circuits. Suitable for all. Please bring a towel and water.
Super Circuits
Circuits at lunchtime will keep you motivated all day. This fun and popular class will take you through a range of stations working all target areas of the body. Circuits can be adapted to suit all levels from the complete beginner to the more advanced participant.
Aero Flex
Aerobic session with use of weights, to target all the main muscle groups. Followed by flexibility moves to give you a full workout. The class is pitched at mixed ability so all are welcome.
Studio Cycling
Situated in our studio cycling room are ten bikes waiting to take you through the flats and steep hills at a range of different speeds without leaving the building. Can be adapted to suit all levels.
Body Sculpture
Use of aerobic weights to enhance fitness, with carefully designed exercises to achieve a sculptured abdominal area. Simple choreographed exercise routines to create an aerobic effect. Stretch routines to loosen the limbs and improve flexibility. The class is pitched at a level for all with alternative moves to suite every individual.
Belly Dancing
Belly Dancing is fun for all ages, from 18 to 80. Gentle moves tone all the body's muscles, improving your fitness and balance whilst generating confidence and poise. Jogging bottoms, comfy top, bare feet or ballet pumps are best. "A fleeting escape from the strains of modern Western life into the mystical rhythms of the East".
Total Body Conditioning
The perfect kickstart to your weekend. This unique experience will take you on a tour from fat burner to conditioning followed by a relaxation set at the end. Suitable for men and women with adaptations for the beginners to the more advanced.
Ab Attack
Help to strengthen that mid-section with this half hour ab zap class. Focusing on abdominal and core stability work throughout. Suitable for all levels.
Yoga
A composition of yoga techniques bound together to form hatha yoga. This style of yoga is quite fast moving whilst maintaining your inner strength through breathing and relaxation techniques.
Circuit Training
A circuit training session targeting all muscle groups through a range of stations. Classes can change from week to week, making your workouts more varied. This class is not done to music and is suitable for all levels.

Fitness Class Tips
- Please wear trainers with non-marking soles. No shoes or bare feet.
- Bring a drink. Water in a plastic bottle is ideal.
- Bring a towel.
- Before the class begins, tell your instructor if you have any injuries or medical problems.
- Don't eat a main meal before coming to your class. Have a food-free hour before exercising.
- Please note that the YMCA has excellent changing rooms, showers and hair dryers.
YMCA is a membership organisation
The YMCA is a membership organisation and therefore we encourage everyone participating in activities to become a member. You can, though, join in fitness classes as a non-member. Classes cost less if you are a member.
