The YMCA has a long history of volunteering. We are one of the largest voluntary organisations in the country. Right from the beginning members were encouraged to care and work for others - indeed our founder George Williams gave up his spare time to the service of the YMCA.
Volunteering in Cheltenham YMCA
Cheltenham YMCA currently has over 50 volunteers who regularly get involved with our work. Some serve on the Board of Directors, others lead activities (for example, karate or netball), some work in our charity shop (the best in the country!), others raise funds for Y-Care International (the YMCA's own development agency).
There are so many ways you can be involved - go on get in touch today! Go to the Contact Us page for ways of getting in touch.
What can I do?
There are many opportunities to volunteer and support the work of Cheltenham YMCA. Here's some suggestions...youth work, work with children, maintenance work, Cafe work, fitness assistants, sports assistants, fundraising, etc
What to do next
Contact Us. We will then send you an application form and arrange to meet with you to discuss in detail how you want to be involved.
Volunteering can be a great deal of fun and you can be assured of a warm welcome at the YMCA.
Volunteer recruitment procedure
Because of the nature of our work with children and young people we have a clear volunteer recruitment procedure. Everyone who volunteers to work with children and/or young people we will check their suitability thoroughly, including a check through the Criminal Records Bureau.
